Wichard
From KiteWiki
A popular quick release shackle is the 70m long Wichard 2673 show below both closed and open:
The small cord runs through a sprung gate mechanism so that when pulled, the swinging arm releases. This is one of the only Quick release devices that is sure to release under load and when clogged with sand.
Most people change the cord for something easier to grab, often with a plastic stopper ball on the end, and use them in conjunction with a pulley to make a captive system for buggying on handles.
The Wichard 2673 is just the right size to fit to the HA1375 snatch block directly.
The Wichard 2674 is the same item but 80mm long, so stronger. It is however too large to fit to the HA1375 snatch block directly.
Piston type releases (also made by Wichard and many others) are considered dangerous by comparison, as the piston can fill with dirt or sand, causing them to fail when most needed.
