Power kites
From KiteWiki
(Redirected from Power Kites)
There is a thin line of distinction between a power kite and a traction kite.
Before land based wheel and water based activities evolved, a power kite was the name given to a kite that was strong enough to pull the user around for recreation. Early kites were controlled by two lines, where later traction kites developed to four or more lines to allow greater control.
A typical example of an early power kite is the well known Flexifoil Stacker 6
Traction Kites
Traction kites (also generally referred to a power kites now) are used to pull the user in a desired direction or to do tricks. Flown either Static or typically in conjunction with a Board, Buggy or Kitesurf Board.
