Kiting
From KiteWiki
Kiting covers a wide range of passtimes and sports that have one thing in common - Holding onto a line (or lines) that are connected to a structure that flies in the sky by wind power alone.
At its most basic level, it can start with single line kids kites, though single line kites can also be quite sophisticated.
From this, many move on to discover either Sport kites or Power kites. These often have two or four lines to control them, and are able to respond to the user's inputs and move around the wind window following the way that the user pulls more on one line than the others.
Kiting has further developed into a range of more energetic kite sports. In each of these sports, the power of a Traction kite or Power kite is used to actually lift or pull the user in a direction that he (hopefully) chooses.
These sports employ a variety of different Kites made by a number of Kite manufacturers competing with their latest technology, some more suited to one discipline than another.
Safety is a big issue with all kite sports be it a small 2 line power kite right up to a massive 18+ metre water kite or LEI, Bow or Twinskin. You will find plenty of tips here to help keep you accident free!
