How to estimate the wind speed

Best to use a wind speed meter.

If you don't have a wind speed meter, it is always better to get out a kite that is too small rather than too large.

It is worthwhile remembering that although a reasonable estimate, the wind speed on the ground may be different to that at the height that you will be flying your kite, where it is usually a little higher.
