Hooked in
From KiteWiki
Term used when power from the kite is taken via a harness rather than your arms.
The term comes from the act of hooking a strop or chicken loop onto the hooked part of a spreader bar but can also apply when the strop is taken through a pulley or snatch block.
Whatever way that you are hooked in or connected to your kite, you should always also have a safety quick release in case things go wrong, as well as a leash that will stop your kite from flying away untethered. The leash should also have a safety quick release in case the kite was being dragged by some moving object, where you would need to disconnect entirely.
